Asheville, NC — Genova Diagnostics, a global leader in advanced diagnostic testing for gut health (GI Effects®), nutrition (NutrEval, Metabolomix+), hormonal health, and immune function, today announced the acquisition of Cell Science Systems (“CSS”), expanding research and development capabilities and bolstering it’s medical education support staff.
CSS performs testing in immunology and cell biology, including the Alcat® Test, CICA® Celiac, IBS & Crohn’s Array, MethylDetox™, Telomere Length Test, and Cellular Nutrition Assays (CNA™), operating a CLIA-certified laboratory and FDA-registered medical device manufacturing facility.
As part of the acquisition, CSS will become part of Genova Diagnostics and eventually see its test menu integrated into Genova’s product portfolio and offered under the Genova Diagnostics brand. This move takes unique testing methodologies CSS is known for and allows Genova to incorporate biomarkers not currently offered while expanding the medical support services and research and development capabilities of both labs.
“Clinicians are increasingly benefiting from clinical laboratory data to help them understand the overlap between gastrointestinal health, immune, nutrition, and metabolic drivers of chronic disease, optimal health, and longevity,” said Jeff Ledford, CEO of Genova Diagnostics. “By bringing Cell Science Systems into Genova Diagnostics, it’s easier to access a more complete picture from one lab, while leveraging our combined scientific insights and expertise built over decades.”
The acquisition expands Genova’s headcount, specifically increasing the number of licensed medical providers available to support clinicians, research and development experts, and capabilities in cell-based immune testing and food sensitivity assessment.
Genova will continue to operate the existing CSS laboratory in Deerfield Beach, FL, in addition to its location in London, UK and CLIA-certified lab and headquarters in Asheville, NC.
